Fishing
The fishing industry is significant, although it accounts for less than 1 percent of the annual gross state product. Ports on Puget Sound and the Pacific Ocean handle almost all landings; less than 1 percent comes from fresh water. In value, salmon accounts for about one-third of the catch, followed by oysters, crab, shrimp, and other shellfish. Other fish caught include halibut, flounder, tuna, cod, rockfish, pollock, and sablefish

Agriculture
F
arming accounts for nearly 3 percent of the annual gross state product in Washington. The state has approximately 37,000 farms. Agriculture is concentrated in the Puget Sound area and the somewhat isolated valleys to the south, in the dry-farmed holdings of the eastern two-thirds of the state, and in the irrigated land on the upper Columbia, Snake, and lesser rivers. Crops make up nearly two-thirds of the yearly farm income. Wheat, the state's leading field crop, is grown primarily in the east. Fruits, nuts, and berries account for more than one-third of the value of the crops produced in the state. The leading national producer of apples, Washington is also known for its cherries, plums, grapes, pears, and blueberries. Other important crops are hay, hops, potatoes, sugar beets, peas, dry beans, and flower bulbs.

"MY Childhood Days "

Upon a hill in the evergreen state as a child I was raised, we had no running water but to my daddy I give praise.
He wheat land farmed with nature, he worked the hard, hard soil, he prayed to God to help him work and do the hard, days, toil.
We had a pig named Lizzy, who slept upon our step, she thought she was a dog you see and she was really “hep”We also had a live pet snake that really was a fright, but when my sweet ol’ mom found out we nearly had a fight!
My Grandparents came west with the Wagon Train; they made friends with the Indian Chiefs. As a child I got to cook for them and visit with them brief.
My childhood days were wonderful I ran the hills so Free. I Loved the birds and animals that God had given me.
I have four Wonderful sisters, our Father wanted a son, he Loved us all five dearly, we were always number one. I became the son to Dad, we worked right side by side, I wouldn’t trade a minute, as he was the perfect guide.
The suns so warm in Washington, it is a God sent land, when God made my Washington he knew what he had planned. My Father still farms dry wheat land, he gives to all in need. He trusts the weather, prays for rain and then plants his seeds.
We moved to town in the wintertime and back to the farm in spring. It was always good to get back Home and hear the birdies sing.
I live in Minnesota with a Great husband and nice home. I live out in the country and we have a wonderful son. I tell him of my childhood days of no lights or running water, he says, ”Mommy” I wish I ‘d been there then as his little voice does falter. All that I can do dear Lord is be Thankful I was there and Thank you ever so much to let me know he  cares.

State Song

"Washington, My Home"

This is my country; God gave it to me; I will protect it, Ever keep it free.
Small towns and cities rest here in the sun, Filled with our laughter.
Thy will be done.
(refrain) Washington my home; Where ever I may roam;
This is my land, my native land, Washington, my home.
Our verdant forest green, Caressed by silvery stream.
From mountain peak to fields of wheat, Washington, my home.
There's peace you feel and understand. In this, our own beloved land.
We greet the day with head held high, And forward ever is our cry.
We'll happy ever be As people always free.
For you and me a destiny; Washington my home.
For you and me a destiny; Washington my home."
